Dr. Miesha Frempong completed a fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at Duke University in Durham North Carolina. Her area of expertise includes childhood and adult strabismus, childhood cataracts, glaucoma, ptosis and eyelid disorders, tearing disorders in children, optical correction of refractive error, retinoblastoma and retinopathy of prematurity.
A native New Yorker, she left the city after high school to pursue undergraduate, medicine and health policy studies at Yale University and Yale School of Medicine/Epidemiology and Public Health. Dr. Frempong completed her internship in internal medicine at Mount Sinai and an ophthalmology residency at the Scheie Eye Institute, University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
Interested in international health and health policy, she has traveled to and worked in numerous countries around the world. She enjoys learning new languages along with her many public service activities. She speaks Spanish, her mother’s (Panamanian) native tongue, and Twi, her father’s (Ghanaian) native tongue.
