Teresa is a seasoned, consummate mental health professional who has dedicated her entire 40 year career to the care and treatment of mental health patients. She sees each encounter as sacred and seeks to honor the sacred stories of those entrusted to her care.
She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She then went on to obtain a Master of Nursing in Gerontology/Mental Health. At 44, she entered the University of North Georgia to obtain a Family Nurse Practitioner post Master's certificate.
Teresa has worked at Emory, Grady, the Atlanta VA and numerous private practices. She has trained with Bessell Van der Kolk MD and David Burns MD in the treatment of trauma. She holds certificates for continuing education from the Institute for the Advancement of Human Behavior. Teresa is recognized for her ability to assess the deeper needs of her patients, in addition to her pharmacology prowess.
Teresa sees her specialty as listening and skillfully applying behavior modification techniques to treat depression, anxiety and trauma. In addition, to the use of medication, when appropriate, a careful thorough history is obtained and plan of care agreed upon before initiating treatment.
Teresa is licensed in the states of California and Georgia. She shares a home with her husband David Kriest, an IT guru at Emory University Hospital, her father in law, and her beloved Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Princess Grace Kelly. She enjoys gourmet cooking, gardening and travel. She is an active member at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church in Sandy Springs.

Lifestance has been a great experience for me. Teresa is a wonderful provider! I’m so thankful I was pointed in her direction when searching for someone. I would highly recommend to anyone who may be looking. Also - the entire office is SO cute, cozy and clean.

My provider is exceptional. She understands what I’m going through and provides insight on things that will be beneficial. I do telehealth with a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and she is more knowledgeable about the medications I take than my previous psychiatrist who was with another group. She was on time for our appointment and really listened to what I was saying. I’ll definitely keep going to her.

I cannot recommend life stance and Teresa Lane enough! Beginning to work with them has truly changed my life for the better. The office is also very clean, smells wonderful and has an aesthetic appeal in an upscale industrial park in Milton, which feels very safe. I’m very thankful for this practice and look forward to being here for years to come.

After over 20 years of dealing with therapists, I feel I have truly found someone in Theresa Lane who is eminately capable, caring, insightful and highly effective.
She is extremely knowledgeable of medications and has taken cautious but sound action to modifying my chemical therapy.
