Dr. Theresa Talens, FNP-C is a board certified nurse practitioner through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Program, AANPCP. She is an alumna of Old Dominion University where she received her Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing (BSN), Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN), and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Degree. She began her work as a registered nurse working in diverse spectra of the medical world, gaining experience in the Intensive Care Unit and Labor & Delivery Unit. During her training in the Nurse Practitioner program she developed a passion in treating and diagnosing diseases of the skin. Dr. Talens has trained under Dr. Brian L. Johnson, who is the head dermatologic practitioner and surgeon leading Virginia Dermatology & Skin Cancer Center. Her area of expertise is in general and surgical dermatology. She is surgically skilled in performing dermatologic excisions, biopsies and assisting with Mohs surgical procedures. She is also certified and licensed to diagnose, prescribe, and treat patients of various ages with general dermatologic concerns. Dr. Talens comes from a military family, and was born and raised in the Hampton Roads area. Her family is her driving force, and her work at Virginia Dermatology & Skin Cancer Center is her passion.
