About Dr. William Heller
Dr. Heller is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in the care of the upper extremity. He focuses on conditions of the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder, treating a wide range of issues including fractures, arthritis, work-related injuries, carpal tunnel syndrome, and other traumatic or chronic injuries. Dr. Heller performs various upper extremity surgeries addressing disorders involving bones, tendons, nerves, ligaments, and blood vessels. His surgical expertise includes shoulder arthroscopy, such as arthroscopic rotator cuff and ligament repairs, as well as wrist and elbow arthroscopy.
Dr. Heller earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Chicago and completed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at University of Chicago Hospitals. He further refined his skills through a fellowship in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery at The Curtis National Hand Center. He has been practicing in Chicago since 1998 and is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, holding a Certificate of Added Qualification in Hand Surgery.
In his spare time, Dr. Heller enjoys cycling, fly fishing, and spending time with his wife and three daughters.

I received a cortisone shot for shoulder impingement, which was certainly helpful. But I had to call the office to get a referral for physical therapy after reflecting for a bit. It did not really feel like the doctor had my longterm wellness in mind. Without PT, I probably would have simply repeated the injury.
