Dr. Xuebin Yin graduated from West China University of Medical Sciences, one of the most prestigious medical institutions in China. She did her internship and residency training in Peking Union Medical College Hospital, and due to her outstanding performance, was hired as a permanent faculty member. Peking Union Medical College Hospital is the premiere research hospital in China, earning it the number one spot in national rankings. Dr. Yin was given the opportunity to manage a wide array of difficult cases, familiarizing her with a broad range of medical knowledge and surgical experiences. Dr. Xuebin Yin came to the United States in 1996 and passed the USMLE (United States Medical Licensing Examination) during her second year in the US. She completed her residency training at the esteemed Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Upon her graduation, she received the Resident Achievement Award from the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons and the Senior Resident Gynecologic Surgeon Award from Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Dr. Yin has been managing a thriving practice in Flushing, New York since 2005. She offers a full range of comprehensive health care services to women at every stage in life. I had my appointment in-person. But just wanted to leave as much feedback as possible. Besides the fact that the wait time was not too bad (probably because it was almost time to close), I have nothing positive to say about her. She does not provide a positive, empowering environment for her patients. She was rude and disrespectful when I just started asking questions because I misunderstood the kind of medicines she was prescribing me. We had our conversations in Chinese throughout my visit. I thought that would make me feel a little more comfortable but I was totally wrong. She even asked me why I asked that many questions. She was expecting me to not ask questions because I was young or because of my age (that’s what she told me literally in Chinese). I told her that I didn’t understand that’s why I asked to make sure, she was telling me that she did explained to me about the medicines. Such an unprofessional manner to treat patients! Disgusting visit! Her team is also such an embarrassment! They do not provide any guidance once you’re in the office. Assume that every patient is there 24/7 and knows every detail about the clinic.... The most embarrassing, unprofessional doctor’s experience!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She interrupted me in the middle of explaining my primary concern to ask rhetorically if I knew that I was speaking with an OB/GYN and said I should talk to a family med doctor. This demonstrated 1) extreme condescension 2) that she was not willing to listening to the patient 3) that she was not knowledgeable about this specific OB/GYN issue. As a med student, this is exactly what they teach us not to do. My neurologist was better at helping me interpret this classic lab picture that is seen with oral contraceptives than her...would not recommend.

I was completely appalled by what happened in this office. I’ve never experienced any type of racial injustice before but I can certainly say I did at this appointment. I was told that they are no longer taking new OB patients. However, I was asked what the appointment was for when I called and made the appointment. So they were well aware of why I was coming. The office was 100% Asian which does not bother me one bit. I’m a caisson female. Things get a bit awkward when I walked in. Say down with the nurse to go over health history and take blood pressure, weight etc. the doctor walks in and asks what I’m there for. Clearly I’m there for pregnancy and looking for a doctor that I click with because I had a previous bad experience with another doctor. The doctor proceeded to tell me they aren’t taking any new pregnancy patients. Asked when my due date was. Followed that with saying oh yeah that month is totally full. Offered to give me a sonogram but I saw no point and felt extremely uncomfortable. I’m almost 100% certain that because I wasn’t Asian they did not want to take me on as a new patient. I quickly got dressed and walked out of the office. There was no apology, no offering to help in any other way, no one even said anything to me as I left the office. I’ve never felt so dismissed and uncomfortable in my life. This doctor may be good if you’re Asian but be wary you may be chased out of the office if you aren’t.
