My name is Aaron Abrams. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. My educational background includes a Master’s in Science (MS) in Marriage and Family Therapy, a Bachelor’s in Arts (BA) in Psychology, with a communication minor with an emphasis/specialty on interpersonal communication based off of teaching classes and doing extensive research in that area. In the therapy room, I strive to help individuals, couples and families create better cohesion, create healthy communication patterns, as well as increase the happiness that is in the system and the individual. While I have been trained in several areas in terms of theories of therapy, my therapeutic orientation mainly derives from Satir’s Symbolic Experiential methodology. However, I will also use additional experiential methods such as Narrative Therapy and Emotion-Focused Therapy, as well as some Solution-Focused Therapy and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. I will use different approaches to find ways to change clients’ negatively focused outlooks on their life to more positive ones. I strive to collaborate with you, your significant other or your family to find healthier perceptions of life, communication practices, as well as to become individualistic and less codependent in your relationships. While I may be known and perceived as the expert in the therapy room, my hope is to be seen more as just a contributor to you and your family’s growth and, at times, a teacher of new practices.
