I have worked in the field of social services and mental health for almost 15 years. I received a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Texas State University and a Masters of Science in Social Work from The University of Texas-Pan American. My experience in social work has led me to work with nonprofit, State, and Federal agencies. Within those settings, I have gained valuable knowledge from working with clients in outpatient clinics, inpatient medical and behavioral facilities, family court proceedings, child welfare case management, and field supervision for social work student interns. I enjoy working with individuals in all age ranges and those who are working through major transitions in their lives (puberty, young adulthood, parenting, sobriety, retirement, end of life issues, managing chronic health conditions and veterans who served in different eras.) I am a bilingual (Spanish/English) clinician who is passionate about empowering individuals to build wellness, healing, and stability in their lives. I believe that ongoing psychoeducation plays a major role in breaking down stigmas and barriers that stand in the way of the client engaging in treatment. Because I was trained to view "the person in the environment", we always start "right here" and take it from there. I have been trained in several evidence -practices (EBPs) and will utilize different EBPs during treatment, such as, crisis intervention, cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused, motivational interviewing, grief, and advanced safety planning intervention. I have a particular interest in helping individuals who have experienced suicidal ideations (chronic or acute) or who are recovering from an attempt.There are times when we need some help navigating "life stuff" and I'm here to connect with you to take on these challenges. I believe that collaboration is key in treatment planning. You are the driver and I'm in the passenger seat with the map.
