Getting to know Guadalupe Flores

Hello! My name is Guadalupe Flores, and I am a Catholic Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master's in Counseling from Lamar University in Beaumont. I have experience working with diverse populations affected by a variety of issues, including depression, anxiety, anger, trauma, and many other emotional challenges that may be hard to label but interfere with your quality of life. My approach to therapy involves collaborating with you as an individual and working together to uncover both subconscious and overt blocks of pain and burden, helping you navigate toward the root of the issues you're experiencing. During our sessions, you are in control-we will only go as far as you are willing to. However, as your therapist, it is my duty to carefully prod and inquire in certain instances to support your healing process. This may sound uncomfortable, even scary, but I hope you come to understand how discomfort can lead to changes in your emotional stability, general happiness, and overall mental state. Let's take a moment to reflect on how long you've been carrying this pain or burden that only you are aware of... 3 months? 6? A year, ten? Perhaps so long that you struggle to remember who you are without it? Still, if you have come this far searching for a therapist, then there is a part of you that is conscious of a life free from these burdens: it is that same part that believes in and hopes for that version of you. Consider listening to that inner voice that is yearning to be known.

What should a new client know about working with you?

What will this journey look like? During our first session, I will be doing the evaluation interview to better understand why you are seeking therapy. This will include obtaining background information, inquiring about your symptoms, and a routine inquiry as part of your first assessment. Based on what you share, we will then begin formulating goals depending on what you would like to work on first. If something imminent needs to be addressed, we will most likely start there. If there is anything that you may not be aware of, but I believe is necessary to bring up to help move you toward your goals, with your permission, I will do so as needed. I like to challenge my clients and tend to ask a lot of questions, as I find this necessary due to the fact that this is an investment on your part and not a cheap one at that. However, I am also very understanding and believe that the action of therapy is not easy at all, on the contrary, it is an extremely difficult and emotional journey to face and uncover past traumas and negative experiences, but it is an intrinsic part of the healing process that I will be accompanying you on.

Super versatile specially with the languages. I was looking for someone who can connect with me with my culture and language and from the very beginning I felt good. Lupe was so helpful in a way that I was the one talking the entire time. She knew how to get all the feelings, emotions, thoughts out of me.

Our first session was good! She asked me questions that allowed myself to reflect. She took the time to get to know me before diving into the reason why I seek therapy. She ended the session with a prayer which I absolutely loved! Being able to talk to a professional who also loves God is amazing.

I’ve had several sessions with Mrs. Flores, she is a great listener and has helped me see different perspectives of my situation in a positive way. Very helpful, understanding and nonjudgmental

Lupe has been really great at getting me to think deeper about my emotions and challenge my perception while also getting me to gently talk about things from the past that have made an impact on me. Although we differ on things like faith, we find common ground in our culture and I really love the environment she sets for our sessions, I feel safe and like I can open up to her about anything.
She is very understanding and really listens to everything I have to Say. What I'm going though mentally, emotionally, and physically. She breaks it down and comes up with lots of ways to over come what I'm going through and make me feel good, confident, and knowing that I can over come it.
Ms. Flores is a wonderful therapist and amazing listener and she made me feel incredibly comfortable talking to her and being able to open up.
