More about André Neitzel, LCSW
I genuinely believe contacting a therapist and pursuing therapy is an act of bravery and courage. I never lose sight of that. While some issues can be addressed with brief, solutions-focused therapies, other concerns and struggles may be rooted deeper and require different therapeutic approaches. I use elements of cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based strategies, and psychodynamic therapy to guide treatment approaches. Another thing I never lose sight of is the fact that each person is unique. The issues and concerns that bring a person to therapy have to be approached with this idea of uniqueness in mind.
My style is conversational and relational. I might use metaphors and analogies as tools to help visualize problems and solutions. Humor can also be therapeutic. Among the most powerful realizations I have experienced as a therapist is that once clients begin to trust in their inner strength, wisdom, and natural abilities, profound changes often occur.
A little about me. I graduated from the University of Denver with a master’s degree in clinical social work, with a focus on concerns and issues during adulthood. I hold certifications as a clinical trauma professional, a grief counseling specialist, a dementia care specialist, and as a clinical tele-mental health provider. I work with individual adults facing a broad spectrum of challenges, including depression, anxiety, grief/loss/bereavement, life transitions, relational issues, acute and chronic medical concerns, and traumas.
