Denver, CO

Andrea graduated from Anderson University in Indiana with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. After receiving her Master's Degree in Professional Psychology at Geneva College in Pennsylvania, she moved to Florida. She became a Florida Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in November 2000, and in 2002 opened a private practice counseling children diagnosed with chronic medical conditions. In 2010 she joined the University of South Florida's Silver Child Development Center, counseling children and their families. There she worked with a team of Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Medical School Residents and a Speech & Language Pathologist. During her time at USF, she was involved in a federally-funded research study providing cognitive-behavioral therapy to adolescents diagnosed with HIV and depression. In addition, she was a facilitator for the University of Phoenix from March 2011-June 2015, instructing a Foundations of Psychology course. After living in the Sunshine State for nearly 16 years, she and her husband moved closer to the mountains, where they can continue to enjoy a variety of outdoor activities as well as an urban lifestyle. In preparation for the move, she obtained her License in Professional Counseling (LPC) in the State of Colorado in January 2010. She relocated to Denver in January 2012 and opened a private practice near downtown. Andrea's special interests are in helping people manage depression, Asperger's Disorder/ASD, communication skills, anxiety, Bipolar Disorder and chronic medical conditions. She also works with athletes to improve sports performance. Andrea offers Walk & Talk sessions and enjoys them as much as her clients do!

Andrea was a fantastic therapist while I was seeing her. She was always available for a video session if I wasnot able to come into her office. While I do not see her right now, I definitely will return when I have the need.

I appreciate that I can talk At length to get things out and if I need feedback, Ms. Risi is goodat jumping in to ask follow up questions. She reads me well in that respect. Also, I appreciate that she lets me lead the session instead of - like some therapists - telling me what it is I need to talk about or do after the session.

I love Andrea Risi! She is the best! Andrea always does what is best for her patients. One of the first sessions we talked about what I was looking for, what kind of treatment would work for me, and what my schedule was like. I am introverted and often times I can get uncomfortable with "formal" sit- downs. Walk and talk helped me to feel more comfortable. Also when I moved, Andrea was able to accommodate my situation, which has been tremulously relieving and helpful.

I went to Andrea during a time of significant change in my life as well as feeling completely stuck in some areas. I felt listened to, supported, and validated by her. I also felt challenged in the ways I needed to be. The work I've done in sessions with her has carried over into my daily life in very positive ways. I'm incredibly thankful for this. Andrea is an excellent therapist.
