Hello, my name is Selam (Salaam) Beyene, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Colorado with nine years of experience. I work with adults who are experiencing depression, anxiety, grief/loss, trauma, relationship issues, and life transitions. My therapeutic style is an eclectic mix of client-centered, strength-based, mindfulness-based, and transpersonal approaches. I also lean heavily on Cognitive Behavior Therapy. No one is exempt from the challenges of life. You can’t be good-looking, smart, or rich enough to opt out of life’s challenges. Often, during times of struggle, our tendency as human beings is to distract or numb ourselves. It’s understandable to want to escape. However, we can also get stuck in a cycle of addiction and numbing. Heartache, loss, grief, and despair can be a portal, a doorway, a hero’s journey. It’s a hero’s journey because it takes courage to seek therapy and to look within ourselves, to notice our shadows, our past, and our pain. But when therapy is done right and with the right therapist, it can shepherd us to discover our potential, our power, and our freedom. What is your typical process for working with clients?

We will focus on establishing rapport and building trust in the initial session. Next, through a collaborative process, I will gather information about your background and current challenges to help formulate a tailored treatment plan. After a month in therapy, you can expect a gradual reduction in symptoms, enhanced coping skills, and empowerment.
