More about Dr. Bryan Weinstein, DO

The desire to help those who needed it most led me into the field of psychiatry. Working with the brain injured has taught me that even an abundance of passion isn't enough to truly provide that help- a complete sea change had to occur in the way I viewed people with brain injuries. That view has become the foundation of how we treat and work with our clients.

Extremely helpful with solutions to problems. Office staff is very friendly.
Let me start by saying that he seemed smart enough, and I am certain that he cares about doing a good job and believes that his method accomplishes this. However I would have to disagree with him on that point. Dr. Weinstein is the kind of doctor who can see 4 patients in the 45 minutes I waited in the office and who's paperwork included several pages geared explicitly towards clients who are seeing him as part of a legal battle where they are suing whoever caused their brain injury. Within 5 minutes of entering his office he'd re-diagnosed me, which, while it might even be right, felt incredibly dismissive. He told me it didn't matter anyway since he treats the symptoms not the diagnosis and wouldn't change my meds if they were working, so I give him credit for that. Then he extracted a 10 minute overview of all my darkest and most painful issues, in a way that somehow left me feeling like I'd still taken up more of his time than I was supposed to. And finally he told me upfront that he would see me in a month and then every three months, sometimes I would see his PA's instead, but that he was always available if I needed to call and he could always squeeze me in if I needed an appointment. That was great, and I believed him - unfortunately he followed it up by saying that essentially it was entirely up to me to tell him how I was. He was like - if you say you're fine I'll believe you and the appointment will be over. - Which, on the one hand, again, I appreciate that he's not going to waste my time or create issues when I'm actually doing fine, but mood disorders can be incredibly difficult and painful to share when your feelings are scaring you, and I require that my psychologist has at least a minimum ability and desire to see beyond the surface and assess how I'm really doing even if im feeling to vulnerable to blurt it out as soon as I walk in the door. On the whole, there were flashes of genuine warmth and competence, but he's a text book kind of doctor who firmly believes he knows what's best for you even when he doesn't know you, and I just can't trust someone like that in a relationship like this.
My visit was quick, pleasant and courteous.
