Hi there, I'm Cara!
Hello, I'm Cara and I've been practicing therapy since 2014. I utilize a person-centered approach using CBT, DBT, and solutions-focused techniques to ensure my clients... you... are seen, heard, and provided the opportunity to practice skills to help you grow in the areas you've come to therapy for. I look forward to working with you on your journey toward healing, wholeness, and understanding.
My approach
I am a person-centered therapist who uses a variety of techniques from approaches such as CBT, DBT, Solutions focused, and Narrative therapies. I enjoy providing my clients an eclectic approach to their needs and journies toward healing... as each person, and therefore each session, looks different!
My focus
I enjoy working with clients who are aware they need and want healing in their life. The healing can be from past trauma, relationship loss or conflict, issues with anger, or addiction.
My communication style
I aim to make all of my clients feel seen, understood, and appreciated for who they are, no matter the reason they find themselves in therapy. I use humor, "care-frontation" and psychoeducation in many of my sessions to build rapport, insight, and the pathway to healing.
My journey to therapy
I attended therapy in my early 20s despite my family's stigmatizing view of therapy. In therapy, I found insight, healing, connection, and courage to face what I needed to in my life and to take the next steps toward the life I desired. Because I took these steps in my own life and found a treasure of support and eventually healing, I am passionate about coming alongside others in this same journey.
My goals for you
I make goals with clients in the first few sessions and then check in with clients either every session or every few sessions about these goals, based upon their presenting needs in each session.
