I appreciate the opportunity to provide you with an overview of my counseling and psychoeducational services. My therapy and counseling are guided by "Coming from Choice." The choices you have made in life have brought you to this present moment in which you are seeking a therapist with whom you can connect, share, and resolve the problems of living. What sets me apart from others in this field is my educational background and experience in various settings while working with children, adults, and seniors. I cross-trained in counseling, psychology, special education, and general education. I hold a doctorate in counseling, and two master's degrees, in psychology and special education. My teaching experience includes seven years of public school teaching, including special education for learning-disabled and emotionally disturbed children, and ten years as an adjunct professor teaching graduate school in psychology and special education.
I spent eighteen years employed as a school psychologist for the Arlington, VA Public Schools serving preschool through adult education students. I provided psychological and educational testing, crisis counseling, child, parent, and teacher counseling, and community outreach in this capacity. Upon obtaining my counseling doctorate and retiring from the school system, I went into private practice. Within this practice, I received mediation training and served the Palm Beach Courts as a Parent Coordinator mediating post-divorce problems. I also became a Family and Life Consultant for the military at air force bases in FL and Portugal's Azores and formed a 12-Step-based divorce group for a Catholic church in FL and one in VA. I became certified as a Collaborative Divorce Counselor to help my clients navigate the legal system while divorcing.
