Hi there, I'm Dawn!
Hi. My name is Dawn McKinney Botefuhr. I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor with 33 years of experience in the mental health field. My counseling style is warm and interactive. I strongly believe in treating everyone with worth, value, respect, and dignity.
My approach
My approach combines cognitive-behavioral and rational-emotive counseling and mindfulness meditation. I use a little bit of neuroscience in the treatment of anxiety, trauma, panic, and worry to change the way the brain responds to the situation. I applied Christian and Holistic treatment in addition to cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) per the request of the individual.
My focus
I've worked with individuals of a wide range of conditions, including NeuroDevelopmental (ADHD‚ all types), Schizophrenia spectrum and other psychotic disorders; Bipolar Disorders; Depressive Disorders; Anxiety Disorders; Obsessive‚ Compulsive and Related Disorders; Trauma‚ and Stressor Related Disorders; Disruptive, Impulse, Control, and Conduct disorders. I also work with individuals with other concerns of clinical attention, such as communication, assertiveness, boundary struggles, relationship issues, parenting, problems, transitions during life; problems with being alone; social exclusion, or rejection.
