Hi there, I'm Elissa!
My name is Elissa Blackwell, and I am a licensed clinical social worker (LICSW-C) in Washington, D.C., and Maryland, providing telehealth services. I specialize in working with individuals, families, and adolescents to address stress management, anxiety, depression, trauma, and domestic violence.
My approach
My therapy is based on the unique needs of each family or individual. I integrate a person-centered approach, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and trauma-informed care to help clients overcome challenges and achieve emotional well-being.
My focus
I have found my approach effective for individuals of all ages, including the elderly, middle-aged, and young adults, particularly those struggling with managing emotions, setting healthy boundaries, and building and maintaining healthy relationships. I believe it is important to provide an environment where clients feel safe, supported, and heard. My approach also helps clients cope with grief and loss, navigate divorce, and start a new chapter in life.

My journey to mental healthcare
I have always been drawn to understanding people�their stories, struggles, and triumphs. Becoming a therapist was more than a career choice; it was a calling placed on my heart by God. My journey began long before I earned my Master�s in Social Work from Howard University�s School of Social Work. My work is deeply tied to my belief in God�s purpose for each of us. I am not just a professional; I am a child of God, seeking to reflect His love and compassion in everything I do. Helping people is more than a job�it is my ministry. I believe in transformation, and through faith, guidance, and resilience, we can overcome even the most daunting challenges.
