He understood my feelings about attending therapy on day one and assured me that his therapy style was exactly what I was looking forward to. You need to focus on one issue at a time and only make one step to the solution at a time. Prior to Dr. Weinschneider whenever I was attempting to pick up the pieces of my life back together I would assemble it all back in one sitting as fast I could without letting the glue dry between each piece. I learned to appreciate and congratulate myself on assembling two pieces and waiting for them to stick before adding another. Recovery isn't something to be rushed, you won't get better overnight and neither will your therapist wave a magic wand. But with his guidance and advice, I was able to see another perspective on the benefits of my struggle which shaped me to who I am today. I’m Dr. Ely Weinschneider, and for over 20 years I’ve been working as a licensed clinical psychologist, helping people like you find healing, overcome challenges, and strengthen their relationships. I earned my PsyD in Clinical Psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology. I work with teens, adults, and older adults, as well as with couples and parents. I know that each client who comes to me has a unique story and their own individual struggles. I am always honored to join with that person in the important work of helping them see their own strength and rediscover their joy in living.
I have worked with many clients over the years and have extensive experience with the following struggles: addictions, trauma and abuse, grief, intimacy-related issues, sleeping disorders, parenting issues, anger management, career difficulties, bipolar disorder, coping with life changes, coaching, compassion fatigue, ADHD, aging and geriatric issues, communication problems, coping with natural or human-caused disaster, life purpose, men’s issues, mood disorders, and social anxiety and phobia.
