How often have you been told how responsible or mature you were as a child? Maybe you feel highly impacted by others' emotions or reactions. What's it like to consider that these things may have developed as a means to survive chaos and instability in life? We'll work together to embrace what we feel plague us. There's strength and power in all of these things. I work with clients healing from childhood trauma, those looking to improve their relationship with food & their bodies as well as clients living with intrusive thoughts, panic and obsessive thinking.
Embedded in my therapeutic approach are values centered on fat liberation, antiracism, feminism and anti-capitalistic practices. We'll use an Internal Family Systems approach to increase mind & bodily harmony and grow to appreciate the ways our bodies try to protect us! From there, we might use somatic or exposure therapy to help you heal and welcome change.
I show up in the world as a fat, pansexual, Hispanic woman and my identity as a counselor reflects that. I know how powerful therapy can be when you find a good fit! My own therapy journey in healing from an eating disorder, OCD and trauma absolutely transformed my world. As your clinician, I hope to lead you down your own path to peace and self-acceptance.
