Gideon W. Greene graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago with a master's in Art Therapy and has an extensive background in community mental health, with 10 years of clinical experience. Gideon draws from social justice, harm reduction, narrative therapy, and cultural relational frameworks. He has experience working with adults of all ages and many common struggles, including anxiety, depression, complex family and relationship dynamics, difficult life transitions, and the effects of chronic illness. He approaches clinical work from a trauma-informed perspective, holding the belief that the client is the expert on their own life. Gideon is trans-identified and passionate about working with members of the LGBTQIA+ community. He understands the challenge of finding a therapist who can relate to one's community from both professional and personal experience. As an artist and art therapist, Gideon draws from a variety of artistic mediums, including sculpture (clay, metalwork, found objects), drawing (comics), and book arts (collage, pop-up books, printmaking). He acknowledges that both art and therapy can feel intimidating, and his goal is to create a space where both feel accessible. In his free time, Gideon enjoys spending time with family, being in nature, reading comics, building with LEGO, appreciating art, movies, and books, and talking with friends.
