I offer a safe, comfortable place to bring your hopes, fears, pain, confusion and excitement; where your thoughts and feelings will be respected and heard and your strengths acknowledged and utilized. Together, we will work to understand and transform the areas of suffering and/or concern. I am not afraid to go to where you need to travel. I work with trauma, grief, unhappy relationships, problematic behaviors, feelings of hopelessness or worthlessness or those who want to make their life "better." I have a large "toolbox" of techniques and approaches that help to create an experience suited to you.
As a psychoanalyst and sandplay therapist I create opportunities to process in deeper, sometimes non-verbal, areas of consciousness. Children, as young as three, and those with past traumas especially find healing in this method. I also use creative arts and mindfulness Cognitive Behavioral approaches, including EMDR.
My partner, Bill Murray, and I work together with couples and families. We each bring our unique expertise and insight to the process. With couples, we work as co-therapists as well as work separately with the individuals. With children, we offer testing and address issues involving the whole family.
Gretta Keene, LCSW is a licensed clinical social worker, certified psychoanalyst (Self Psychology & Inter-subjectivity) and a sandplay therapist incorporating creative arts therapies. She is also an EMDR practitioner. Gretta is a member of the National Association for the Advancement of Psychoanalysis (NAAP), Sandplay Therapists of America (STA), East Coast Sandplay Association (ECSA) and National Association of Social Workers (NASW).
