Hayley Miller, LMHC

Psychotherapist
NY
My interest in therapy and the helping field in general was largely shaped by my own experiences with mental health, which began in childhood. I credit the life I've been able to build for myself to access to treatment and appropriate interventions. As a Jewish person, I understand the importance of being true to yourself and connected to a community, and I strive to help others work towards finding their identity and place in this world. After graduating with my BA in psychology from Rutgers University, I worked as a neurofeedback technician primarily working with children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders and ADHD. I then went on to earn my MA in general psychology from New York University and became a care coordinator, working with clients in the community to help them manage their mental and physical health. While working as a care coordinator, I began my MSed program at St. John's University to become a mental health counselor. I completed my internship on an assertive community treatment team, working with individuals who have severe mental health conditions including schizophrenia, schizoaffective, disorder, and bipolar 1 who have not been able to successfully engage in more traditional types of outpatient treatment. I continued working in assertive community treatment, eventually becoming an assistant program director. As I make this transition to working in private practice, I hope to empower every client I work with to build the life they want to have - the life they deserve to have - by helping them develop the skills and support they need to do so.
