Jacqueline Boutros, LCSW-S, LCSW

Psychotherapist
TX
I was pulled to clinical social work for so many reasons— but mostly because I wanted to connect with and help people. I graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with my Master of Science in Social Work in 2012, and have worked in the clinical field for the past 14 years. My approach as a clinical social worker and licensed therapist is heavily based in science, ethics, experience, and honesty. I’m trained extensively in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and believe it to be one of the strongest approaches to treating mood dysregulation. I also lean heavily on Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Solution-Focused Therapy. My experience is complimented by my own personality traits — honesty, integrity, and a bit of humor. With my lived experience as a mother, I’m able to understand intricately the challenges that come along with motherhood, and I’m an unbiased listening ear to hash out each challenging issue or experience. My goal as your therapist is to equip you with the skills to succeed without me. No therapy should be forever, and my goal is to connect with you, identify the key areas of need, and work together to improve your life and get to a point where you don’t feel the need for therapy.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I’m wholly dedicated to the art and science of this practice. I believe in the training, ethics and boundaries of this profession. Though I think there is certain benefit in having an individual “hold space” for you— that is not what you’ll find here. I believe in addressing the complex and diverse issues my clients present with directly, with sensitivity. I believe in results— not temporary satisfaction. There may be sessions that are difficult, but that’s where the real work happens. At the end of the day? You may be frustrated with me. At the end of the year? You won’t need me.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

A typical session with me will feel gratifying. It’s a safe space to ask your hardest questions, and to ponder your hardest answers. It is therapy the way it’s meant to be— much like a challenging workout— hard work, but a gift to yourself. My first session always begins with a thorough biopsychosocial assessment to identify all key factors (both internal and external) that may be contributing to the clients identified focus. From there, we work together to identify a treatment plan based on the client's needs, strengths and preferences. I don't favor any one treatment option over another, because one size doesn't fit all. I determine the treatment approach based on all of the information gathered in the assessments, and what will work best for each client.
