Hello, my name is Dr. Jamie Lopez! I am a proud Latina from Puerto Rico, where I obtained my undergraduate and graduate degree. I moved to Texas in 2015 to complete my Doctoral internship. I have experience working at College Counseling Centers, Community Mental Health clinics, Domestic Violence programs, and hospital settings. I truly enjoy developing a strong therapeutic relationship with my clients, working with diverse populations, and learning about intersecting identities. During my leisure time, I enjoy trying new foods, traveling, being adventurous, as well as spending time with my family, friends, and my sweet fur baby, Luna.
My approach to therapy is client-centered and collaborative. I truly believe that therapy should be a safe space in which people can be vulnerable and completely themselves. In therapy, we work to create a therapeutic space where the client can explore their emotional/mental health needs and develop a greater understanding of their emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. Between the therapist and the client, we work on enhancing strengths and building on areas of growth. As a therapist, I do my best to incorporate important elements and values such as: social justice, multiculturalism, and interpersonal processing.
