Even with all the wisdom passed from other moms and books on becoming a parent, nothing prepared me for the emotional and mental shifts that took place the moment my baby was outside of my body. I didn't recognize myself and I didn't have the language to describe the range of emotions I was experiencing. I had to grieve the woman I was to become the mother I wanted to be.
There is typically not much preparation or support for the emotional, mental, and physical changes that new mothers endure. What happens when your vision of the perfect pregnancy, birth, and motherhood experience doesn’t happen as we thought it should?
If you're feeling a bit lost about adjusting to parenthood or how to be the parent you want to be, I would like to help you address issues that may arise individually or relationally. Although some challenges are well-documented, mothers often struggle in isolation. I want to ensure that you feel supported whether you are experiencing diagnosable conditions such as Depression or Anxiety or undergoing stress, anger, resentment, guilt, sadness, or burnout.
With over 15 years of experience in the mental health industry, I've worked with a diverse group of people. I provided therapy to mothers experiencing perinatal and postpartum depression through a specialized curriculum known as Moving Beyond Depression. I provided therapy to help treat mood disorders, address trauma-related symptoms, adjust through life transitions, deal with conflict in relationships, self-esteem issues, as well as a host of other concerns. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-focused therapy, Trauma-focused CBT and certified as a Life Coach.
