Jerry M. Nehr, Jr. is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Michigan who has been practicing since 2001. He has a Master’s of Arts in Counseling and Addiction Studies from University of Detroit Mercy. Jerry believes that when we share our thoughts and feelings with another human being, that a connection occurs. It is this very connection that drives healing. Jerry feels that his most important attribute as a therapist is his ability to connect with people who are in pain and who need to let go of that which is preventing them from living more honestly in the moment. He believes that we are all called to know ourselves and to help others. It is these beliefs that Jerry brings to each client. He uses a variety of evidence-based practices and theories including CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, ACT, Mindfulness, Family Systems Theory, and Existentialism. Outside of work, Jerry has written a book (Erasing the Margins), a play (Hitting the Curve), and is in the process of completing a Children’s Book (Ishmael the One-Eyed Cat). He directs and acts in plays, collects vintage baseball cards, plays basketball, and likes to travel to NYC, Sedona, AZ, the U.P. of MI, and Joshua Tree, CA.
