Joyce is kind, warm, empathetic, smart and strong. She has a wonderful sense of humor which helped us get through the difficult, painful parts. She listens very carefully and helped me feel less alone when I came to see her after separating from my husband. She has slowly helped me build a new life and try out new ways of doing things.

Ms, Selter primarily works through the medium of the relationship which both she and the client co-create. And because she herself has so personally benefited from her own psychotherapy/psychoanalytic experience, she deeply values the importance of this special relationship which exists between individuals, couples,and their therapists.
And it is through this special relationship and her careful listening and exploration of clients' past and current experiences and relationships that Ms. Selter hopes to help clients discover new, more satisfying, and transformative ways of relating to others and experiencing themselves in the world.
Ms. Selter is currently on the faculty and supervisory staff of the National Institute For the Psychotherapies in Manhattan and the Center for Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis in New Jersey. She enjoys teaching and supervising professionals and finds this work to be very helpful in her work with the individuals and couples in her practice.
