Kelsey believes therapy is fundamentally a relationship, serving as a channel for change. She fosters relationships centered on consent, empowerment, and honoring needs. Through relational connection, she supports honesty and transparency essential for self-exploration, discovery, and recovery.
Kelsey’s identity as a Black woman informs her practice and areas of focus. As someone with multiple marginalized identities, she values multiculturalism in therapy, affirming the language and identifiers we use and emphasizing therapy as a safe space to explore new ways of relating. Though trained in Art Therapy and Counseling, she does not use traditional art-therapy interventions like art-making or analyzing artwork. Instead, she promotes creativity as an internal resource for self-expression, reflection, problem solving, abstract thinking, and interpersonal connection.
Kelsey earned her Master’s in Art Therapy and Counseling from Drexel University and a Bachelor’s from Eastern Illinois University. Her specialties include identity exploration, development, intersectionality, life transitions, minority stress, depression, and anxiety. She has experience with anti-racist and intersectional perspectives, LGBQ+ and TGNC affirmative practice, Person-Centered and Insight-Oriented Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
