With a background in the comparative study of religion, prior to earning his degree in professional counseling, he studied a variety of belief systems, traditions, and cultures. Though his services are not faith-based, he is respectful of his clients’ beliefs and values and seeks to work within his clients’ frames of reference.
Matt uses a combination of therapeutic treatments including Client-Centered Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, and Motivational Interviewing. He works primarily with individual adults, offering telehealth appointments for clients in Illinois and Missouri, and has a background in treating people in an academic setting. He enjoys working with a diverse population including LGBTQIA+ clients. He often assists clients with issues such as codependence, guilt, shame, stress, trauma, grief, life transitions, relationship concerns, communication, anxiety, and depression.
