Olivia was born in Chicago but has lived in Phoenix and Flagstaff, Arizona where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. Shortly after college, Olivia made the curious decision to pack up 3 suitcases and move to New York City. She’s lived in Washington Heights and Brooklyn before moving to Westchester County. Olivia was working as a case manager in Manhattan when she decided that her true passion was being able to connect with others and help them reach their goals. In 2015, Olivia was a recipient of the Department of Mental Health and Hygiene Scholarship which allowed her to receive her Master of Social Work degree from Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College.
Olivia has several years of experience providing services to a diverse group of adults and families impacted by homelessness, anxiety, depression, personality disorders, schizophrenia, HIV/AIDS, childhood trauma, PTSD, history of incarceration, and/or substance use. More specifically, Olivia has studied the impact of substance use on family systems and how the traits of living with an alcoholic or substance using parent(s) can negatively impact children in their adult life. Olivia believes it is possible for all humans to heal and recover from their traumatic experiences. Olivia’s therapeutic style stems from a person centered and strengths based perspective. In addition, Olivia utilizes Cognitive Behavioral techniques and Motivational Interviewing to help people meet their life goals. Olivia creates a safe and inviting space for all folks by being flexible, non-judgmental, and empathic. Olivia’s clinical interests include, but not limited to, working with self-identified Adult Children of Alcoholics, and any person who is confronted with anxiety, depression, or bipolar disorder.
