More about Sharleen Phillips, LMFT

Once you book the appointment, Well Clinic will reach out to you to complete an enrollment call. Change is hard, and change is constant. Whether you’re wanting to make a change in your relationship patterns, habits, or lifestyle, or trying to adjust to an external change happening to you, you may feel overwhelmed by the change process or even resistant to making change. One of the many paradoxes in life is that once we’ve fully accepted ourselves as we are in the present, we are able to make changes. Often that’s easier said than done, and that’s where therapy can help. I see my role as a therapist as holistically supporting clients to attain and sustain changes in their lives. As a therapist, I use compassion, consistency, and curiosity to help my clients increase their self-acceptance while working to make the changes they want in their lives. My approach is collaborative, strengths-based, and client-centered. I help my clients identify their existing strengths and develop their skills to cope with life’s challenges in order to grow into the people they want to be. Using a blend of harm-reduction, CBT, DBT, narrative, and feminist therapies, I work with clients to unpack how trauma, internalized oppression, and family dynamics can interfere with their capacity to cope with and make change while increasing their skills and confidence in their abilities to make desired changes and successfully manage internal and external barriers. I studied Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy at the University of San Francisco, and I did an honors thesis on mortality salience to attain my undergraduate psychology degree at Amherst College.
