Luis Abbott, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with experience in eating disorders at the partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient levels. I am specialized and trained in various trauma modalities, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). Before focusing on eating disorder treatment, I worked in community mental health within the Juvenile Justice Department, supporting children and teenagers involved with Juvenile Probation and Social Services. I have also provided intensive outpatient mental health care to children, teenagers, families, and young adults facing various mental health disorders and traumatic experiences. I assist clients with a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, psychosis, anger management, mood regulation, grief, loss, personal recovery and growth, and life transitions. My treatment approach is tailored individually, integrating techniques such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Existential Therapy. I earned my Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Palo Alto University and hold a Bachelor's degree from Notre Dame de Namur University. Outside of work, I have a wonderful wife and a few fur babies named Scout (dog), Chucky (cat), and Blue (cat). I enjoy hiking, traveling, listening to live music, and running.
