I walked into therapy with Wayne hoping to find a sounding board and a mirror to reflect my feelings and help me to understand them. I wasn’t interested in exploring childhood trauma because I thought I’d overcome it, but Wayne has helped me to understand that my reactions to trauma as a child have shaped a lot of my thinking and my behaviors today. I’ve gone to therapy for a few years and just a couple of months with Wayne have been more valuable than almost everything else combined.

Hi there, I'm Wayne!
Safety and understanding are my promises to you. It is my belief that we live in a traumatizing world, resulting in pervasive disconnection, self-loathing, and loneliness. If you are experiencing some of this, you have come to the right place. My name is Wayne Ross, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in NY State.
My approach
My expertise and gifts lie in guiding you toward acceptance and compassion with all parts of yourself. Using a trauma-informed approach, including a strong focus on mindfulness, we will gently yet fiercely explore the aspects of your thoughts and behaviors that no longer serve your vision of life.
My focus
I'm looking to meet with anyone who is courageous enough to really look within. You are the expert on your inner life. It is my job to help you find the answers you seek that lead to true freedom and more enjoyment of life.
My communication style
I do my best to create a safe and sacred space. While meeting virtually changes the dynamics somewhat, I find that we can feel present with each other. Working with me will be challenging yet freeing. The discovery is overall a fun process.
My journey to therapy
When I was 11, my baseball coach told my stepmother, "he should be a psychologist." It's just my nature to be interested in what makes others tick. I have been through my share of trauma and challenges in both childhood and adulthood, and I have sought and received my share of help along the way. After a certain level of healing, I was ready to work toward officially being a therapist. This is what I was meant to do.
