My name is Wes Hamper, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in Northern California. I work with adults throughout California via Telehealth and specialize in anxiety and stress management, assertiveness, and self-actualization. My primary modalities of treatment include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Narrative Therapy to help my clients manage life's ups and downs, find their voice, and reach their full potential.
My approach
My personal approach to therapy is non-hierarchical and non-directive, meaning that I recognize the unique perspective and expertise toward life each client brings to therapy. Modalities such as Narrative therapy assist in the process of viewing life through an individual lens rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. In contrast, Cognitive and Dialectical Behavioral therapies provide a logical path to challenge unhelpful beliefs, address self-care, and yield coping skills to manage emotions.
My focus
I have found that I am at my most effective when working in collaboration with insightful adults who have an awareness of their current life obstacles along with the desire for change. By working cooperatively to identify opportunities for change, we can implement novel strategies for challenging negative self-talk, increasing the breadth of available coping skills, and strengthening one's consistent self-care to work toward a happier, healthier life experience.

I describe my communication style as friendly, casual, and curious. Let's work together to develop a strategy that meets your needs while still allowing for individual growth and change.
My journey to therapy
I have always had a keen interest in the workings of the mind and how our individual experiences color our perception of life experiences. Helping others to find their voice, trust in themselves, and self-actualize is incredibly fulfilling and important to our society as a whole.
