About Dr. Alan Halpern
Alan D. Halpern, DDS, graduated Cum Laude from Temple University in 1974. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Temple University Dental School in 1978. Dr. Halpern completed his Residency in General Practice at Wilmington Medical Center in 1979. Since then, he has maintained his own dental practice in Philadelphia. Alan is a proud member of the American Dental Association, Pennsylvania Dental Association, and the Philadelphia County Dental Association.
In his spare time, Dr. Halpern enjoys automobile racing and maintenance, bicycling, hiking, and cooking. He is also a certified NAUI (National Association of Underwater Instructors) diver.

As a person who has a fear of the dentist due to prior bad experiences, I can honestly say that this dentist is the best!!!! The office was easy to access. The guy at the front desk was very nice. My wait time was under 5 minutes. When I got to the back, the woman helping the dentist (unsure of title) did some X-rays of my mouth. My mouth is small so I always have problems with the X-ray device but she was very patient, nice, and reassuring even when I got frustrated. Keep in mind, I’m also a germaphobe so I’m constantly watching to make sure nothing is cross contaminated. Lol. So I’m not the easiest patient to deal with. After my exam, The dentist deep cleaned my teeth and showed me more effective ways of brushing and flossing. He asked me what my goals were for my teeth. He then walked me to the front to get me set up for my next appointment.

I was nervous to pick a new dentist through zocdoc as I am never sure if these are legit, but I was so happy with my choice. I never had a dentist more thorough, and more willing to address my concerns. He took his time, explained everything and actually took direction from me as to how I wanted to proceed. And he even asked about my general health and checked my jaw, muscles and sleep issues. He had an assistant, but he was very hands on, instead of having someone else clean my teeth and then breeze in, do a once-over and leave to keep patients rolling through, which is what I am used to.

Very friendly staff! All of my questions were answered, and they helped me with my insurance and my previous dental clinic.
I did dental cleaning and everything was great, not painful at all. Doctor Halpern was extremely friendly and explained everything to me in detail. He provided a thorough examination of my teeth and instructed me about my further steps.

This is the best Dentist I’ve ever seen. He explained everything I needed to have done and even explained how the teeth should be brushed. I love this Dentist office and will continue to have my Dentistry work done here. His staff are the nicest people you would want working on your teeth. I highly recommend this Dentist and give him and his staff 5 stars and higher for their service.

Dr. Halpern and his staff are literally the nicest people. They explain everything they do and tell you why. They spend real time with you, unlike other offices where you feel like you're just going through a carwash. Dr. Halpern is very thorough during an exam — I felt like I'd never had such an in-depth exam before. I walked away from my appointment feeling very supported and cared for.

Dr Halpern was great. His team were very thorough, helpful, and understanding. I had mentioned when booking an appointment that I had a bad experience at a dentist and it filled me with anxiety and Halpern’s team was right there to make me feel comfortable and safe. Everybody from the receptionist(I’m sorry I forgot your name!) to Dani his assistant was right there for me. After all the information from Halpern, I can’t wait to come back!!

For my initial consultation, I met with the hygenist/assistant who took my x-rays. Those were quick and painless. Dr. Halpern then did a full comprehensive exam, which I was surprised that he took the time to do so. He thoroughly examined everything, gave me better analogies (to hopefully get me to floss better) and answered all of my questions. I never felt rushed nor dismissed; he genuinely cared with what I had to say/express. I am glad I came here based on the reviews. I highly recommend Dr. Halpern!

Holy cow. Dentists appointments are something I have ALWAYS dreaded. Who ever has a good experience at the dentist? Well I just did. I so appreciate being treated like a human and told that I have options instead of being told "well this is what we are doing."
I've never had great teeth, and usually get shamed for it -- but I'm excited for my next appointment!!

Dr. Alan Halpern explained everything about my concerns and the treatment in great detail. I feel that Dr. Halpern is a very honest dentist after seeing a dentist that tried to charge me 3x the cost of the prices Dr. Alan charges. I would recommend Dr. Alan Halpern
