About Dr. Allan Shanin
Dr. Shanin received his D.D.S. degree from New York University College of Dentistry in Manhattan, New York. He then went on to complete a one year General Practice Residency at New York Hospital of Queens in Flushing, New York where he gained knowledge and skills in restorative dental and implant dentistry. From there Dr. Shanin went on to earn his certificate in Oral & Maxillofacial surgery from Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center an affiliate of Weill Cornell Medical College, where he also served as chief resident. While at Lincoln his training consisted of the full scope of Oral & Maxillofacial surgery including Orthognathic surgery, Facial trauma, Dental alveolar surgery, pathology and reconstruction, management of Temporomandibular Joint disorders, Wisdom tooth extraction, Bone grafting and Implant surgery. It is here that he also received his anesthesia and IV sedation training as well.
Dr. Shanin now practices full scope Oral & Maxillofacial surgery with a focus on dental-alveolar, wisdom teeth and implant surgery. He is recognized by his colleagues and patients for providing a high level of care with a unique sense of compassion. Dr. Shanin is an active member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Dental Association and New York State Dental Association. He currently resides in Long Island with his wife and four children.

I got my wisdom teeth extracted today by Dr. Shanin and he was really wonderful. He and his entire team were really kind and helpful. The process was very efficient, I was able to digitally fill out forms and submit necessary documents online before my appointment. So when I arrived, I was able to relax in the waiting room. The staff was very transparent about pricing before hand and during my appointment – so I fully understood the cost of the service.
During my procedure, Dr. Shanin made sure I was comfortable and was fairly quick with removing the teeth. I highly recommend this office for any dental service within their expertise.

I went to get my wisdom teeth pulled. Everyone was professional, friendly, and communicated very clearly. Options were explained well beforehand, and the actual operation was really smooth. Even through the procedure, Dr Shanin talked me through everything.

I visited Dr. Shanin for a wisdom teeth consult since one of my wisdom teeth started to erupt and impacted the adjacent tooth. I received an x-ray from the office and Dr. Shanin walked through the x-ray and explained to me what I was seeing and how 3 of my wisdom teeth were impacting my other teeth. He is very calm and patient as I was very nervous. I ended up getting all 4 of my wisdom tooth removed and he did it within an hour. It was minimal pain and just slight discomfort. Dr. Shanin explained every step of what he was going to do next and what he was currently doing. He also checked in with me from time to time if I was ok. Dr. Shanin and his assistant explained to me about the after care instructions which was very much in detailed. I knew I was in safe hands. Highly recommended.

I removed four wisdom teeth in about an hour. local anesthetic is used and there is no pain just a little pressure when removing. The after surgery instructions is clear and informative, which help a lot in recovery.

This personable doctor was very accommodating to all questions I had before the surgery. He deftly handled the procedure and stated at intervals what stage was happening and asked if I was doing ok! After the procedure , he showed me on the x-ray what was done. Professional, experienced with this procedure, sensitivity to my questions and slight nervousness, thorough handling from start to finish!! Can’t ask for more than that.?

If you are nervous about getting your tooth extracted, look no further because Dr. Shanin will take care of you. He was very attentive and made a terrifying experience a very pleasant one. From start to finish he informed me what he was doing throughout the procedure so there were no surprises. He was fast, warm, gentle and you can tell he cared. The next day he called me to follow and to see how I was doing. I'm happy to report I had no complications with minimal pain. I am scheduling with Dr. Shanin in the next month to get my upper wisdom teeth extracted. All I can say is thank you Dr. Shanin!
