About Dr. Andrew Donald
Dr. Andrew Donald grew up in Frederick, Maryland. Following his college graduation, he worked at the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR), part of the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, as a post-baccalaureate fellow conducting research on the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and osteoarthritis. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry in May 2018.
When Dr. Donald is not working at the office, he enjoys providing dental health workshops and videos in ASL (American Sign Language) for the Deaf community.

I needed an appointment right away and they were very helpful. Dr. Donald did an exam and took x-rays and gave me a diagnosis. He was able to resolve my issue the same day. I would definitely recommend.

Since I am Deaf it was WONDERFUL to have a dentist and dental assistant who were fluent in ASL, no communication challenges. I can see they are dedicated to providing quality service, which I appreciate. Note that this office has TWO locations, and that you should be ON TIME. While most medical service providers overbook due to cancellations and patients being delayed, this dental office operates on a strict schedule, apparently. While it was annoying to be told (more than once) that there would be delays in service because I was late, I like knowing that if I arrive on time, I shouldn't experience long waits. I highly recommend this dentist!

The hygienist was great, but I had a hard time communicating with the Dr. There wasn’t a way for me to ask questions, even though he was able to ask me basic things via typing (from other reviews I thought non-ALS fluent patients would be able to type responses). I also did not get the X-rays which they took (which was long and uncomfortable) explained to me at all. Overall, I did not have the best experience.

The Doc on zocdoc was actually on vacation and the office called to let me know that Dr. Donald was available instead! Everything was great. Friendly staff, COVID protocols being followed, they were on time for my appointment (scheduled for 10am took me at 9:45 when I arrived a little early). Dr. Donald was super patient with me. I’m in my late 20s and still cry at the dentist because I have super super sensitive gums and instead of being frustrated, Dr. Donald went out of his way to ensure my comfort the entire time. He is deaf and his primary form of communication is typing but even that was smoothly done. Definitely happy with my services

Fully accessible dental appointment in American Sign Language. Never had that experience before! The quality of care that I received was excellent and communication was smooth. I would recommend Dr. Donald to anyone, especially deaf and hard of hearing patients.

Dr. Arnold is deaf, but that did not in any way negatively impact the quality of my experience. His use of the computer screen to communicate is excellent and his staff is incredible. I was very pleased with the experience and would recommend him!
