About Dr. Arthur Yam
I chose to go into dentistry because I am able to improve my patients’ lives both physically and emotionally. My passion professionally is working with patients who are embarrassed by their smile or are frustrated with the condition of their teeth. It is so exciting to see the confidence and satisfaction my patients have when their treatment is completed, and it is what makes me look forward to work every morning. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing a positive change in people and being a dentist allows me to reap those rewards every single day.
I completed my dental education at NYU College of Dentistry. There, I earned my Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 2004 and received the Dr. Bernard E. Rudner Memorial Award for demonstrating superior performance in providing oral comprehensive care and administering a dental practice. My hospital residency in dental medicine was through Flushing Hospital in 2005, where I also served as an attending dentist until 2010. Since then, I have completed many continuing education programs, including earning a certificate from NYU’s Surgical Implant Program in 2009, Imtec’s Mini Dental Implant Residency, and training through Invisalign® and TruDenta™.
Being active in my community is not only personally rewarding, but it helps to strengthen the area and inspires action in those around us to do good as well. I provide volunteer dental services for Donated Dental Services, participated in dental outreach on the Island of Jamaica, and raised funds for Make-A-Wish by running the NYC Marathon in 2011. I continue to race to help raise awareness and funds for various charitable causes.
I was born and raised in New York City, growing up in Flushing, Queens and graduating from Stuyvesant High School. I am passionate about being the best person, friend, husband, and father I can be. My wife and I have three wonderful children and much of my free time is spent with them. When I get the chance, I do enjoy reading, snowboarding, scuba diving.

Amazing practice and Dr. Yam and his assistant, Madina were prompt and extremely thorough and kind! Dr Yam explained everything that I needed explained and he even managed to effectively and beautifully repair a broken tooth while I was there even though I had only booked an exam. I had actually booked two appointments, one for a dental cleaning and then one for an oral exam, at consecutive times on the same day. The cleaning was with the hygienist, Paola and she was very adept and hand scaled my teeth because I don't like cavitron cleanings. She accommodated me without question and did not rush through it.
I am scheduling the rest of my treatment with Dr. Yam because he is the real deal and I will being seing Paola regularly. The office is beautiful and clean and they have these light kits on the ceiling in the exam rooms with clouds and puppies and birds. Feel good moments at the dentist are hard to come by so, they had me at hello!

His receptionist cancelled my first appointment. I was going in for wisdom teeth removal. When consulting with the receptionist, she said the Dr performs this surgery. When I arrived for my rescheduled appointment which was confirmed via email, the three receptionists there and the "manager" could not find my appointment even though it's confirmed on Zocdoc! Once I was able to see the Dr, the Dr Arthur Yam literally told me he does not do this type of teeth extraction, that he's done it "a few times" but I should go to an expert who does this on a daily basis. I have no idea why I came to this office.

Doctor was professional, friendly and attentive. Spend a good deal of time looking at my x-rays and laid out a reasonable treatment plan. He seemed careful and not too aggressive. This was my first visit there. Staff initially tried to put me in a room to see one of the other dentists in the group. Had to insist on seeing the dentist I chose. Waited 60 min.

I have not been to the dentist in years and was embarrassed about the condition of my teeth. As soon as I walked into the office, the entire staff was very warm and welcoming. Dr. Yam approached everything in a soft and calming way. He mapped out the best path for taking care of my teeth and most importantly he took into consideration budget and the best solution with working with my insurance plan. Highly recommend this office!

I'll be going back. Dr. Yam was very considerate and kind, which is a nice change of scenery when you're dealing with other people in New York. I'm also one who's very apprehensive about going to the dentist because of dental anxiety, but everyone there did a great job even though I was quite nervous.

Amazing dentist. I went for a checkup, after an x-ray Dr Yam said i need it 3 fillings with a possibility of a root canal. He said he will do his best to save the tooth without doing a root canal if its possible. After working on my tooth he was able to save it and just gave me a filling. Thank you so much for your excellent dental work.
