About Dr. Avo Samuelian
After graduating from University of California Los Angeles, Dr. Samuelian attended New York University College of Dentistry and received his doctorate in dental surgery in 1998. Dr. Samuelian was elected to Membership of the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon. OKU recognizes academic and clinical excellence in dentistry.
Dr. Samuelian continued his dental training and education at New York Hospital Queens with a residency in general practice with emphasis in cosmetic dentistry.
Dr. Samuelian has been in private practice since then. He has placed his expertise in building a successful and relaxed atmosphere to treat patients and to change patients' preconceived notions of dentistry.

Dr Avo Samuelian and his staff are the literally best. Have been seeing them for 15 years and would not go anywhere else! They are so kind, knowledgeable, and efficient. Plus the office art is a dream and something great to look at while you’re getting a cleaning (yes there is even artwork on the ceiling!)

Were pretty rude regarding my dental health and tried to upsell me like crazy. If someone needs work done don't make them feel terrible about themselves and then pressure them into incredibly overpriced procedures! I followed up with another dentist who confirmed they were exaggerating the work I needed to be done.

Dr Samuelian was great but his staff was even more superb. The process, xrays, explanation and cleaning was very thorough. The receptionist and booking was really great as i had to reschedule a few times. Would 100% make this my regular dentist.

Dr. Samuelian was great! He was very patient and explained what was going on (pointing out on the X-ray where my filling was cracked, etc.). When I returned for the procedure (re-do the filling) he was very efficient, but still had time to answer all of my questions. His staff is also very friendly, helpful, and easy to get in touch with.

I think the doctor was very courteous and friendly. But I did have to wait an extra 15 minutes sitting in the chair for nothing, and the dental tools he used for me to bite on to take my x-rays caused me some pain, which never happened at my previous dentist. My biggest issue is that he did not explain to me very well what the diagnosis was, and what harm it could cause. He first said that "I grind my teeth like crazy", then he later said "I grind my teeth moderately", and didn't show me any pictures or diagrams in terms of what normal teeth looked like for people who didn't grind, and for people who did, and what my teeth could look like later down the line. Also, the amount of cleaning he did was about half of what my previous dentist did. He then offered to sell me a guard for grinding and put bonding on my exposed gums for a very hefty fee. At the end of the visit, he forgot to give me the toothbrush that he offered earlier, until I was about to leave and asked for it. It just felt like he was more interested in making money than actually trying to help me.

Dr. Samuelian and his team were excellent; from front desk to hygienist to dentist, everyone was friendly. The office has a lot of great modern art, as well, so that's an added bonus.

Dr. Samuelian and his team are the best. Going to the dentist is actually something I look forward to now because I know what great hands I'm in. I'm always seen on time and communication with the receptionist is excellent. Every procedure I've had has been quick, efficient, and pain free. I didn't know dentists could be like this before meeting Dr. Samuelian. I've been a patient for years and will be for years to come. The whole office is also full of amazing art!

I'm a new patient and just recently went for a cleaning and check up with Dr. Samuelian. He was kind, patient and took the time to answer every question I had. I also had a great cleaning from the hygienist who was very personable and knowledgable. Overall, a very good first visit.
I found out I had two cavities that needed fillings and had a follow-up a few days later. I was in and out within 30 minutes and the procedure was pain-free.
I'll be making Dr. Samuelian my permanent dentist and I'd highly recommend you do also!

Dr. Samuelian is the real deal. I had gone a very long time without seeing a dentist- Incredibly anxious about the experience- but Avo came so highly recommended by several friends that I finally booked the appointment.
The office is more like an art gallery- very cool and relaxing...and the staff puts you at ease immediately after the elevator doors open.
Tiffany is the best dental hygienist EVER! I just can't say enough good things about this place.
Dr. Samuelian made me completely comfortable and walked me through every step of the way. Thanks to him and his staff, I now go for regular check-ups and cleanings! No more fear.

I'm not going anywhere else, ever again. Been to many dentists in NYC, always looking for someone who's skilled, caring, AND in pleasant surroundings, and Dr. Samuelian is the first to fit the bill.
He's personable and funny, important traits when someone's about to stick a needle in your mouth. More importantly, he's patient and soothing when it comes to my sensitivities and pain fears. And he does great work.
And, there's never a wait. Though it's almost too bad, because the office is beautiful and has great magazines. A rarity in any medical waiting room.

The staff at Samuelian's office were really wonderful.
I didn't actually spend much time with the dentist as he barely looked in my mouth before recommending I see a dental surgeon to discuss removing my wisdom teeth, only coming back in to tell me they'd have to pull a cracked molar from a previous root canal.
I've since gotten a second opinion from another dentist, who spent a little more time asking about what was going on. Dr. Samelian is probably a good dentist and will be great for some, especially if you don't have any big problems and/or just need someone for an occasional cleaning and/or cavity. For my taste, he seemed a bit overeager to pull teeth without providing any other treatment options, asking questions, or even looking at the tooth/x-ray for too long.
