About Dr. Camille San Miguel

Dr. Camille San Miguel was born and raised in Maryland. She moved to New York City to earn her DDS at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine, and loved the city so much that she chose to stay for residency in pediatric dentistry at Cohen Children’s Medical Center.
At a young age, Dr. Camille already knew she wanted a career working with kids. Her mother was a stay-at-home babysitter, and through helping her mom, she discovered that she had a natural ability to interact with tiny humans. Her passion for children further developed through her high school job as a swim instructor, teaching kids how to overcome their fears in the water. In college, she participated in multiple global dental brigades in central and south America, where a passion was impressed in her heart to pursue pediatric dentistry.
In dental school and residency, Dr. Camille took an active role in the local pediatric community as a member of AAPD, volunteer for Give Kids a Smile, and chair of SNDA’s elementary outreach program. She participated in the mobile dental van initiative to bring care to medically underserved preschools in the Bronx, and served as a mentor to special needs kids through Live Up Programs.

My son broke his front tooth playing on a slip and slide. I was devastated, but Dr. Camille put a filling in there, and now you can't tell at all!

I have never witnessed my son so calm with a drill to his tooth. All credit goes to Dr. Camille for using non-threatening language and distraction techniques to prevent him from panicking!

My daughter keeps telling me she wants to go back to Dr. Camille for more dental treatment so she can be prescribed more ice cream for dinner. I am so impressed by Dr. Camille's aptitiude with the kiddos!

Coming to the dentist can be so time consuming, but Upper East Smiles makes it extremely convinient and efficient. My son and I can be seen on the same day. And now that my son is completely enamored by Dr. Camille's fun dentist games and ice cream air, I can leave him in her care so our apppointment can be simultaneous, and trust that he is in excellent hands.

My son has braces and neither me nor my husband and convince him to clean his teeth properly. After one talk with Dr. Camille, she miraculously motivated him to start flossing. She spoke to him in a non-threatning, non-blaming, positive and encouraging way that finally got him to do it every day! Dr. Camille really knows how to reach these teenagers. I am so grateful!

My 2.5 year old son is extremely apprehensive to new experiences and has sensory sensitivities to loud noises and bright lights, the epitome of dental appointments. Dr. Camille took extra time to make sure he was comfortable, give him breaks as needed, and calm his nerves throughout the appointment. She really made his first visit fun, non-scary experience!

Dr. Camille is an extraction wizard. My 6 year old daughter had a stubborn baby tooth that was giving us problems with eating at home. Dr. Camille skillfully distracted my daughter during the injection-she was giggling during her shot without realizing what was going on. And then quickly but gently removed the tooth before my daughter could panic. We left beaming ear to ear!

Dr. Camille is simply the best. SHe really takes the time to answer all of my worried-mom questions, and guides my 4 year old through her appointments with patience and the most comforting techniques. I am amazed every time that my child does not cry!

My son started getting cavities at a very young age and has needed a lot of dental work done. We have had some bad experiences in the past, so he has been very scared of coming to the dentist. Dr. Camille made sure to take the time to show him each step of what she was doing, and explain it in non-threatening (and even fun/exciting) ways that put him and ease and enabled him to complete what needed to get done. We are so grateful to Dr. Camille!

Dr. Camille truly has a passion for children. You can tell by the way she kneels down to their level, the way she speaks to them with the utmost kindness, and the way she treats them with unending patience. Even when I was getting frustrated my daughter, Dr. Camille remained calm and engaged with her to get her through the appointment. She is amazing!
