I have had bad experiences with dentists so honestly it caught me off guard to hear “please open” instead of just open/close and to have the assistant/doctor build good rapport and be so kind!! Very happy to find an office I can regularly start going to for cleanings! ”

About Dr. Daniel Lyu
Dr. Daniel J. Lyu, DDS, FAGD
After immigrating to the US at the age of 3 and growing up in New York City, Dr. Daniel J. Lyu earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery from New York University College of Dentistry in 2007. He then completed a General Practice Residency at Lincoln Medical Center in the Bronx in 2008. Dr. Lyu has been in private practice ever since, focusing on comprehensive care for his patients. After selling his office in Westchester, NY, and wanting to live closer to extended family, he moved to the Phoenix area in the fall of 2020 and has been practicing at this Tempe office since March 2021.
Committed to staying current with the latest developments in dentistry, Dr. Lyu has attended multiple continuing education courses at the Spear Institute and Zimmer Biomet, focusing on implantology and esthetic dental restorations. He has completed 300 hours of education in the AAID Maxi Course at UNLV and is pursuing certification in implantology. In the fall of 2022, Dr. Lyu earned the distinction of Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry. He is also an active member of the American Dental Association, Arizona Dental Association, American Association of Implant Dentistry, and American Society of Forensic Odontology.
Outside the office, Dr. Lyu enjoys golf, fishing, and spending time outdoors with his wife, Jennifer, and their two children, Alexander and Olivia.
As the lead dentist at Cereus Dental Care in Tempe, AZ, Dr. Lyu is proud to have achieved Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry-a milestone that recognizes dentists committed to quality care beyond traditional requirements. I recently moved from NYC and needed a new dentist, so I turned to ZocDoc and hit the jackpot with this office! From the moment I scheduled my appointment, the front desk staff was incredible - they even called me ahead of time to ensure I had all my paperwork sorted. We ended up having a fun chat and realized they are from Queens, NY... just like me.
The office itself is spotless, modern, and welcoming. The entire staff is beyond friendly, and my dentist was amazing. I have braces, so I was a little nervous about my annual cleaning, but they did a fantastic job. The dentist had the best bedside manner - warm, funny, and thorough in explaining everything. I felt completely at ease the entire time.
It’s safe to say I actually look forward to my future dental work with this team (which is not something I ever thought I’d say about a dentist). If you’re looking for top-notch care, a welcoming atmosphere, and a team that cares, this is the place to go. Highly recommend!

Dr. Lyu was very thorough with the examination and patiently addressed all of my concerns. Because of my TMJ condition, Dr. Lyu and his assistant were very gentle when they polished and cleaned my teeth.

I have been going to Dr. Lyu for awhile. He and his staff are always attentive and makes me feel comfortable during my procedures. The very best thing about Dr. Lyu is that he is so gentle when he gives me the novicain shots to numb the area. Also, I love that the numbness only lasts about 30 minutes after I leave his office. I highly recommend Dr. Lyu and his staff.

First, the front desk staff makes you feel right at home immediately when you walk in the door. All staffs are very sweet and attentive. Second of all, everything was on time and it was an extremely professionally run office . Was very clean too . Last , Dr. Lyu is very good, calm, caring, and fun . Would highly recommend to anyone.

I highly recommend Dr. Daniel Lyu at Cereus Dental Care. Dr. Lyu is incredibly knowledgeable and takes the time to explain treatments thoroughly. He listens to my concerns, provides excellent care, always honest about the best course of action and does not recommend procedures that I do not need. For every procedure that I went to Dr. Lyu for, whether it be for a cleaning, fillings, bonding, etc, I was extremely pleased with the exceptional service, quality of care, excellent results and most of all his gentle hands as I had the most pain free experience with Dr. Lyu compared to any other dentist I have been to.
The staff at Cereus dental care are super responsive and exceptionally friendly. They do a fantastic job in keeping on schedule and go above and beyond to make you comfortable.

Dr. Daniel Lyu and his team are fantastic! When I needed emergency treatment, they scheduled me immediately. The receptionist efficiently sent me paperwork and follow-up texts and emails. Dr. Lyu’s bedside manner is excellent, and he skillfully extracted my tooth with minimal pain. He thoroughly explained his treatment plans, and his staff clearly outlined the cost breakdowns, including my insurance coverage. Their Office is conveniently located right off the Highway and is airy and clean. Two thumbs up for Dr. Lyu!
