Dear Prospective Patient,
Hello and welcome.
I have been serving patients at the same location in Hyde Park for over 25 years. I earned my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from New York University. My office manager and dental assistant, Alfie, has been with me since the day I opened. We try to offer every patient a relaxed, informal, and non-judgmental atmosphere while providing high-quality, comprehensive care. I strongly believe that the best outcomes occur when the patient is informed and involved in all decision-making.
My approach to care is to first gather all the necessary information: your concerns, a clinical exam, any needed x-rays, medical and oral health history, and then explain to you exactly what I have found-what the causes are, the ramifications, and possible treatments available. I understand that every patient is unique, with their own set of concerns, needs, experiences (both good and not so good), fears, and desires. Every patient also comes with special financial considerations. Together, you and I can find a treatment plan that best meets your needs. I believe that at times, no treatment is an option. It is important to remember that oral health is integral to total systemic well-being.
At our Hyde Park office, we treat patients of all ages and love seeing whole families. We welcome patients with special needs and those with dental fears.

The was totally different was worried or nervous the Dr.David Itzkoff was kind and friendly and his Assistant made me feel at home relax . Dr. David is one of the nicest man I’ve ever met. ? He’s very professional and will try his absolute best to fix whatever issue you come in with.. ? his assistant ? is just a sweet and will make you feel at home in this tiny office. ? this is a part time business ?! ?they will try their best to make sure they are available for your appointment! ? This dentist office was unpleasant and dirty, with open rooms that were too close together. The dentist did not do good work cementing in my crown that had fallen out and it fell out again 1 month later. Had to go somewhere else since I didn’t trust this dentist. Dentist was also rude to other staff in front of me.

He was a very sweet, man and his assistant was one of the nicest ladies i have ever met...? understand that when you go into this office, it is an older establishment, but they get things done. My smile looks beautiful and I appreciate them so much for taking me this late at night.

This was honestly the strangest experience I've ever had with a healthcare provider. I arrived at the office and no one was there. They were apparently closed and no one had bothered to cancel my appointment! I called and they did send the doctor in (an hour later), which I really, really appreciated. However, when I arrived, the doctor was coughing and **not wearing a mask ** (he put one on to work on my mouth, but took it off several times TO COUGH, while my mouth was open!!). He also went rummaging around for supplies at several points in time, and then did not change his gloves when coming back to work on my mouth. The lax hygiene practices were doubly disturbing, as I listed on my intake form that I am immuno-compromised. The disorganization of the office's scheduling practices and the truly upsetting lack of hygiene during a pandemic means I would never, ever recommend this practice to anyone. Both the doctor and his assistant (who I only talked to on the phone) were also incredibly dodgy about accepting my insurance and seemed to be setting a random (very high) copay rate because 'they weren't sure my insurance would cover' what I was there for them to do (repair a broken piece of metal in my mouth). They asked me to pay a large sum up front without knowing for sure what the insurance company would cover. He also just wrote down my credit card information on a piece of paper because he supposedly didn't have the machine. All of it was super strange, and I would never, ever go back to this practice. AVOID.

It was okay. The treatment itself was fine just a normal cleaning. However the bedside manner could be improved. He initially told me they would send the charge in the mail then as I go to check out, his assistant proceeds to charge me more than half of the service amount. They need to be more clear about how much you're paying and when.

While I appreciated the quick appointment, I can’t recommend this practice. The office is small, both sinks are broken (there’s now where to spit), and paperwork was cumbersome. They didn’t have the ability to view my digital x ray taken at a different practice (doesn’t seem like they have a computer) so we looked at it on my phone. Multiple times they mistook the reason for my appointment. Outdated facility, equipment, and registration.

I'm writing this review because the office NEVER called me back, ANSWERED or even confirmed my appointment. How professional is that? So I honestly cant answer about bed side manners and etc, but they make you answer that question so I did.

If you're looking for a streamlined, trendy office with all of the latest technologies... look elsewhere. If you're looking for an knowledgeable, gentel, and caring doctor who will tell you honestly when you do and DON'T need a certain procedure, Dr. Itzkoff is your man.

I'm a bit afraid of going to the dentist, so I was pretty trepidacious to first see Dr. Itzkoff, but now I go to him with full confidence that I will be treated well. He and his staff are very friendly, and I feel like they really care about me. They got me in quickly, and take the time to really listen to my concerns. I've had routine cleaning done, as well as one root canal, and I couldn't be happier.
