About Dr. Dipa Patel

Dr Dipa Patel is a local DC area native. She was born in Prince George’s County and raised in Manassas. From there her early childhood love of arts, crafts, sewing and music led her to select dentistry as a form of artistic expression. Interestingly after a few years at Maryland, the love of high pressure procedures drew her to specialize in oral and maxillofacial surgery. Long Island Jewish Medical Center, the Northport VA and Stony Brook served as thorough training grounds for her residency. In this program dentoalveolar surgery received strong emphasis. As many of the attending surgeons who trained Dr. Patel were full time private practice themselves, she developed an understanding of what it took to succeed in the private world of oral surgery. Dr Patel at meeting of Virginia Society of Oral and Maxillofacial SurgeonsAfter a brief stint as an associate, Dr Patel became interested in delivering oral surgery to extremely fearful patients with a slightly gentler approach. With patient comfort at the forefront of her mind, she has evolved her practice and continues to do so — always looking for new ways to revolutionize the patient experience. Along the way, Dr Patel has done fundraising for Muscular Dystrophy Association via running her second and third marathons, and the recent Marine Corp 10K. She skis on the west coast regularly, plays golf at a moderate handicap, and has plans to complete the Ironman. For Dr Patel there is never going to be a place where she becomes comfortable — she will always strive for higher achievements and goals. She is the future President of the Virginia Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and currently serves as a delegate to the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Recently her passion has become making a difference in the world of opiate and narcotic addiction. De-stigmatizing this is her primary goal.
