About Dr. Elena Johnston
Dr. Elena Johnston’s philosophy of care and prevention, education and elevating everyday routines into meaningful rituals. She believes that oral health is deeply connected to overall wellness, and her goal as a dentist is to help patients care for their smiles in a way that feels thoughtful, personalized and sustainable by combining clinical skills with calm, function and design-led experiences that support long-term health.
Dr. Johnston completed her undergraduate studies at New York University before attending dental school at the University of Pittsburgh, graduating with her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 2017, and completed her general practice residency in Brooklyn. She continues her education regularly to stay at the forefront of the dental field, and her advanced training includes a number of restorative and cosmetic courses, including BOTOX for therapeutic care, hyaluronic fillers for intraoral needs, dental veneers, Invisalign clear aligners and traditional orthodontics. She has also taken a number of courses in areas that she does not currently practice, such as implants and surgical procedures, in order to learn how to manage these types of treatments and assist her patients in planning their care.
Dr. Johnston is environmentally conscious with the products she uses and gives out. All patient kits are BPA-free, made from recycled paper, and the floss contains no Teflon (so no microplastics). Everything is compostable, and she purchases only cements, flowable and other materials that are holistic in nature. Additionally, she works with labs that only use metal-free materials such as porcelain. This helps ensure that each treatment and produce Dr. Johnston provides promotes your oral and overall wellbeing both immediately and long-term.

Dr. Johnson and her staff are incredible! They are always so warm & welcoming. Dr. Johnston is very knowledgeable & caters to all your needs. I have high tooth sensitivity, but her hygienists are gentle and thorough!

I stopped by Dr. Elena’s new Midtown office and had such a great experience! The new location is so much more convenient, and even though they’re still adding a few finishing touches, it’s already looking beautiful. I can’t wait to see the final result.
As always, Dr. Elena took her time explaining the treatment I needed and made sure I understood everything before moving forward. You never feel rushed, and she genuinely cares about her patients.
Also…I have to give a shout-out to the floss she gave me. ?? It is seriously the best floss I’ve ever used! I never thought I’d rave about floss, but it’s that good. Honestly, they probably shouldn’t be giving it away for free!
If you’re looking for a dentist who’s kind, thorough, and takes the time to make you feel comfortable, I highly recommend Dr. Elena.

My visit with Dr. Johnston was smooth. I felt really comfortable. She fixed a chipped tooth and a couple of fillings as well. She is fantastic, the office was clean and staff was so nice. I for sure recommend Shine Dentistry!

5/5 Stars – Absolutely exceptional care! I have been a patient of Dr. Elena Johnston for about a decade and the treatment she has provided is truly above and beyond. She’s kept my teeth strong and healthy over the years, and did a great job with my Invisalign and chipped teeth. At every appointment I’ve had with her, she offers a high level of care and attention. Whether it’s a cavity fill or another procedure, she has a wonderful bedside manner and keeps it pain-free. She is also up-to-date on the latest dental technology and industry trends and knows all about new products and advanced techniques. She is a true professional, and I cannot recommend her and the team at Shine Dentistry highly enough!
