That thought was soon replaced by his amazement at how quickly his dentist had him back to normal. This incident made a lasting impression. And today, one of the things Dr. Gelfand finds most gratifying about his work is making patients feel like he did when he was nine years old. Dr. Gelfand is the Clinical Director at Gentle Dental. He has grown up around the profession, guided by his mother who is also an accomplished dentist. Growing older, he found himself drawn to the idea of becoming a dentist himself, and after working as a dental assistant at his mother’s practice, he entered Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. Dr. Gelfand also completed the advanced general dentist training program at Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine residency program prior to joining Gentle Dental in 2015. Accomplished in multiple disciplines, Dr. Gelfand has advanced training and expertise in aesthetic, endodontic, and implant dentistry. As a second generation dentist and lifelong scholar of dental medicine, Dr. Gelfand is dedicated to honing his craft with the latest advancements in the field. He is fascinated by modern technology, especially in dentistry, such as lasers and other state-of-the-art instruments because he loves to discover ways to make procedures easier on patients. When he’s not focused on dentistry, he’s probably watching a Knicks game. Often referred to by patients as simply, Dr. G, he prides himself in making each patient feel at ease and is known for his compassionate approach to care.
