What (or who) inspired you to get into dentistry? How so? My interest in dentistry started when I tumbled down the stairs many years ago. When I was seven-years old I fell on my front tooth, and chipped my central incisor. At that age, I did not know what a white filling was. I was simply terrified and thought that my tooth would never be the same. My mom rushed me to our family dentist, Dr. Haqqi, who was extremely compassionate and assured me that my teeth would look even better than before. I was taken by the kindness my dentist treated me with – he gave me a hug of support, understood my concerns and fears, and provided me with the best treatment a kid could ask for. When Dr. Haqqi handed me the mirror to look at my new tooth, I immediately smiled - a smile and sense of relief that I envisioned giving to people in the future. What’s the most rewarding part of your job? The most rewarding part in dentistry is when you see patients understand the important of their oral health. Education is one of my favorite parts of my job. I also love getting people out of pain and making them smile again with confidence. What’s your dream toothpaste flavor? Mint How do you recharge after a long week? What’s your go-to activity for hitting the restart button? I love to explore different cuisines. Pilates and working out What is the absolute coolest thing about the human mouth? The absolute coolest thing about the human mouth is the mouth-body connection. In another life, if you weren’t working in dentistry, what would you be doing? Fashion design is the art of applying design, aesthetics, clothing construction and natural beauty to clothing and its accessories. I love to creat things with my hands.
