About Dr. Herrick Lai
Dr. Lai graduated from the New York University in 1996 and went on to attend the New York University’s College of Dentistry. He graduated in 2000. He completed his residency at the State Island Hospital in 2001. He then went on to complete a two-year Implantology course at New York University. Dr. Lai is also certified in the Invisalign method of tooth straightening.
Currently, Dr. Lai is affiliated with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the International Congress of Implantology, and the American Academy of Facial Esthetics.
At the practice, Dr. Lai and the staff work to create a feeling of Zen that allows any anxious patient to relax and smile before and after every treatment. The office is designed for today's busy professional which expects nothing but the best in modern dentistry. Dr Derrick Hai was great! He was extremely friendly and transparent throughout the appointment. I loved how we reviewed the X-Rays together and he walked me through the images live. He also took a more in-depth photo of my mouth to show me certain areas of my teeth. I learned alot about dental hygiene and tendencies.

Such bad communication. I tried to book this dentist multiple times based on their reviews. They had moved offices but didn’t update me on that. Then their new system didnt sync with zocdoc. Then we had an appointment that was changed and I got no confirmation email/message. I showed up for the original appointment since I didn’t get a confirmation for a change anywhere and the dentist told me he couldn’t see me. No true solution. No remorse for not being able to see me. No offer to figure out another time. Their whole back office admin is a mess. I wa understanding the first time…but the end was bad. How does an office not send any confirmation message or reminder the day before the appointment especially when their system is not working properly?

Dr. Lai is professional and calm. He does his own cleanings and discusses dental issues patiently with his customers. Sometimes dentists can seem overly interested in high cost procedures, but my impression is that Dr. Lai's focus is on doing the best job he can to keep your mouth healthy.

Very pleased with my first visit to Dr. Herrick Lai. Everything was done very well and by the dentist himself, including cleaning and X-rays. The cleaning was very thorough and completely painless. A needed treatment plan was explained thoroughly and I will be returning for additional needed work. As other reviews have said, Dr. Lai is very friendly, and upbeat and focused on the patient. I have found my new dentist!

I’ve been going to Dr. Lai for the last 1 1/2 years and have been happy with his service. He’s professional and communicates what he’s doing. In addition to cleanings and wellness checkups I decided to get Invisalign and after finishing all my trays, he decided I needed 2 more trays for better alignment. He’s very thorough and gets the job done. I highly recommend him.
