“We live in Rockaway Beach so it’s too far to come for their dental services (we would come if we were closer!), but finding a pediatric periodontist for autistic kids with anxiety can be hard (we’ve tried before and had an awful experience!). Dr. Liz was amazing!!!! My kid felt so safe with her and was smiling and happy, she listened to him and offered to pull a loose tooth, he thought about it and said no, and she was so great! She also listened to this mama ADHD out and babble on and laughed and was kind and I was able to let my guard down and know that my kid was in good hands, which is always scary. I’m so glad we found this place! Everyone at the front desk was also so amazing and patient with me getting all the x-rays and insurance forms at the last minute (sorry ladies, and thank you!!!)”

“Dr. Chung was extremely thorough and a great listener. He gave me excellent advice about my problem, walking me through several options and at the end went out of his way to find contact cards for TMJ specialists who could help me with my specific jaw pain.
One of the ladies at the front desk wasn’t that friendly and a little impatient but I wouldn’t hold it against her since she might’ve been having a bad day.
Just know that despite her demeanor the visit was great!”

About Dr. Hyun Oh (Brian) Chung
Dr. Hyun Oh (Brian) Chung is a Board Certified Periodontist (Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology) specializing in periodontal diseases and treatments of dental implants.
Dr. Chung pursued his professional career in dentistry at Columbia University in New York, NY where he received a degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery. Upon graduation, Dr. Chung moved to Philadelphia, P.A. where he completed a three year specialty training in Periodontics and also obtained a Master of Science in Oral Biology degree at the University of Pennsylvania. Upon completion of his specialty training, Dr. Chung moved back to New York City and began practicing as a periodontist in greater New York area while teaching at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine, where he currently holds his academic title of Assistant Clinical Professor.
Dr. Chung has received his education and training from some of the world’s top, well-renowned universities. It is his unique and exceptional education and training from Duke University, Columbia University and University of Pennsylvania that has led him to excel at providing comprehensive care, using interdisciplinary approach in the field of dentistry. Throughout his career, his main focus has been to improve communication and collaboration among different specialists in dentistry and in medicine. In his efforts to provide comprehensive care to his patients, Dr. Chung has decided to start his own multi-specialty dental practice here at Upper East Smiles where different team members can effectively discuss and treat each patient with best possible treatment modalities.

Much better and more efficient than previous dentists I have had. especially for a first time appointment. No paperwork!
Seen right away, fast x-rays and accurate diagnosis. Very much appreciated during COVID... They have a good organized system in place.
(Please note I called ahead a day before to make sure all the stuff was updated in the system. And I've been working hard to keep my teeth in good shape to avoid complications.)

Dr. Chung is really great. He's currently in the process of giving me a dental implant. We've gotten the extraction and bone graft portion of the process done. Dr. Chung's been super clear and done his due diligence on my tooth and has been really receptive during this difficult time.

Truly great! I showed up to my apt about 45 mins early and he still saw me right away! He needed to refer me to another doctor for a special procedure and that doctor saw me right away as well - the same day. Overall the BEST service I've ever had.

I was really impressed with my experience with Dr. Chung. I would say it was the most informed I have ever left a dental office. I went in for a periodontics consultation and would consider switching to him for a primary dentist as well. Dr. Chung is the man! I needed my wisdom teeth removed and TBH he did a better job than the oral surgeon who pulled my other two last time. He even called me the next day to see how I was doing. I just moved to the UES so was in need of a new dentist and so glad I found a great one!

I had a great appointment with Dr. Chung! It started right on time and the office was clean and welcoming. I loved that he explained everything that he was doing in a way I could understand and even walked me through my X-rays to explain what he was seeing. Also, loved the TV with Netflix for me to watch during the cleaning and XRays! The dentists seemed very knowledgeable and gave me great options for how to handle my dental needs. Dr. Chung's office is spotlessly clean and very well run. From the second you walk in there you are greeted warmly and offered a bottle of water. They run on time and have state of the art equipment. Saw two of the doctors. They are friendly and smart. Great cleaning and exam. They explain what is happening and why! He will be my dentist from now on!

Extremely knowledgeable and easy to talk to. Dr. Chung has a beautiful office with five dentists working together to help each patient. Dr. Chung had other colleagues, also all very nice and intelligent, help consult me within the same appointment. The hygienists are all very kind and gentle, and they even let you pick what you want to watch on Netflix in the exam room during the appointment. My best experience with a dentist yet!

My visit at Upper East Smile was great. Dr. Chung who was my provider was pretty amazing. I was beyond impressed with my experience with Dr. Chung. I was very pleased with my Implant. It was pain free, quick, and short. Dr. chung and his staff are all I could have hoped for in a dental practice.

I normally feel nervous about going to a dentist for any reasons. Dr. Chung is gentle, patient & respectful and has skills/knowledge to make me feel comfortable. He takes time to explain politely and thoroughly all questions I have before and after treatment. I recommend Dr. Chung to my family, friends and anyone looking for a dentist in the city.

Dr. Chung and staff spent time with me to provide a total pkg of comprehensive check up. I expressed concerns of my dental anxiety before check up began. I felt Dr. Chung appropriately addressed my concerns and worked around it to make overall experience satisfied.

This has been one of the best experiences I've ever had at a dental facility. There were so many things I was impressed with. One of the most impressive technique was how he gave me the shot to numb the area before he started the procedure was, how he kept asking me question and a slight tugged on my jaw and pinched the area then gave me the shot. I can't say enough about the after care. Great job Dr. Chung (5 star)
