An internationally known lecturer, Dr. Shuman is as skilled at putting an audience at ease as he is at making his patients feel relaxed. With a focus on patient comfort, his reception area offers a complimentary beverage center to make everyone feel at home. This focus is reinforced in his practice, where he has pioneered techniques in minimally invasive dentistry. Offering preventive, restorative, and cosmetic dental care, Dr. Shuman provides the latest in dental technology.
Dr. Shuman, who received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Howard University and completed a one-year general practice residency at Peninsula General Hospital in New York, not only educates other dentists but advances his own knowledge of dentistry with 100 continuing education hours annually. A Master of the Academy of General Dentistry, he has completed over 1,200 hours of rigorous study and preparation, and has been recognized by his peers as a Fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy. Since 2005, he has been voted one of The Top 100 Clinicians in Continuing Dental Education in North America by Dentistry Today.
In private practice since 1992, when he is not in the office Dr. Shuman can be found fishing with his sons or playing Barbie with his daughter. Dr. Shuman is also a supporter of the Special Olympics and a sponsor of the Annual Maryland State Police Polar Bear Plunge.

I have been looking for a dentist that actually listens to me and I really do not have very high expectations but Dr. Shuman's office was one of the best experiences in a doctor's office I've had. He and his staff were nice, clear communicators and listeners. Additionally, their office was very clean and had the most modern technology I have seen in a dentist office. I am moving soon and will have a fairly long commute to continue going to this dentistry and I intend to do so anyway because of the high quality of my visit. Highly recommend.

his hygienist as well as the receptionist are soooo!! great and while they assist each other he checks in and the humor is so relaxing and he has a good thing going here and since he is out of network i still pay the extra cause his staff and he are really that good.
