About Dr. Irena Vaksman

After many years of rigorous education and, more importantly, diverse clinical practice, Dr. Irena Vaksman, a San Francisco dentist, truly understands the value of quality patient care and how to provide it. Adhering to the principles of conservative dentistry, she continually stresses the importance of treating fewer patients per day and spending more time with each one. This approach allows her to effectively educate patients about preventive dental health or, if medically necessary, about treatment options for an existing condition.
Dr. Vaksman earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from New York University and completed her Residency in General Practice at New York University’s prestigious Advanced Education in General Dentistry program. She has many years of extensive expertise in both clinical and cosmetic practices, as well as experience serving as a restorative dentistry instructor at the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry.
She stays at the forefront of cosmetic and preventive dentistry through advanced continuing dental education and is committed to keeping her San Francisco dental office green-friendly through initiatives such as computerized X-rays to minimize radiation exposure and eliminate film processing chemicals, sanitized and filtered water, and a mercury-free policy. Most importantly, Dr. Vaksman has devoted her career to treating all of her patients with the greatest care and providing each patient with the highest quality treatment.
She also believes in giving back to her community by contributing time and resources to several charitable organizations.

Went here to avoid a commuted to downtown SF where my former dentist's office is. There is a parking lot and the staff is very friendly and professional. Masks are required when you aren't being worked on. Your temperature is taken upon entry.
It felt as if they took 50 Xrays. *seriously it may have been 20 or more I think I was used to the full mouth scan at my previous dentist, but I am told that is not a yearly thing. It's been a bit since I saw a dentist thanks to the lockdown, so this was ok for me.
They have some cool gadgets that make teeth cleaning a breeze. There's a live screen of the Monterey Bay aquarium to keep your mind off of the work being done. If you are getting additional work (other than the basic cleaning) you can watch Netflix. Appointments are spaced. I think there are 2 patients in the office at a time (different rooms). Generally only 1 dentist/hygienist/ or assistant in at a time or they are 6 feet apart and masked. In other words every thing you need to feel safe about returning to a dentist when a virus is raging out there. I did arrive just as another patient was exiting, but other than that I didn't see anyone but employees.

I have a lot of anxiety due to bad past dental experiences, but the doctor was patient and informative. She took the time to explain everything to me and was gentle ans responsive. Also - it may seem like a small thing, but being able to select a program from Netflix to watch with headphones during the procedure helped so much! Will definitely return and recommend.
