Her upbringing instilled strong values of perseverance, compassion, and community. She has had a passion for medicine and wanted to be a doctor for as long as she can remember—even dressing up as a doctor with a stethoscope for Halloween in kindergarten, long before she began dental school! Dr. Shuman earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from New York University College of Dentistry, where she also received honors in both Pediatric Dentistry and Research. She completed a Pediatric Dentistry residency at Brookdale Hospital and Medical Center and went on to pursue an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at the same institution.
